Dd complained about having a 'sharp edge' to her tooth recently, then I noticed her tooth at the front on the bottom was wobbly and now the one next to it on the bottom seems to have a new one growing behind it. I'm worried as
a) she's only 5 years old (don't adult teeth grow at 6 or 7?)
b) the adult tooth seems to be growing before the baby one has fallen out
c) I thought the first teeth to fall out and be replaced were at the top.

Should I make an appointment with the dentist? Anyone know what's going on?

No don't worry
a) lots of kids had lost theirs in Reception , even dd was still only 5 (just!)
b) both ours had this with bottom ones , normal as the adult one gradually displaces the baby one leaving minimal gappy look . they came up behind the row and quickly moved forward when the other came out.
c) usually bottom ones go first

This happended with all 3 of mine. In the case of my older ds the baby tooth stayed there for about 6 months. Dont worry.

Try not to worry.

The bottom two front teeth tend to come out before the top two so thats quite normal.

As for the adult teeth coming through before the milk teeth come out, this happened to my DD too. I worried and posted on here and it seems its not that unusual for it to happen.

When DD had her regular 6 month check-up appt. the dentist was fine about it and said that the new teeth will move forwards into place when the milk teeth drop out and indeed they did, very quickly in fact.

It did look odd before the teeth dropped out though as she had 2 rows of teeth like a shark

Agree with Lizs

DD lost hers earlier than that

She lost her 4th tooth 6 weeks after she was 4

& at 10 only has 1 baby tooth left & the adult tooth is behind that & visible
