Headache after miscarriage?

Just wondered whether anyone had any advice? I had a m/c last Saturday at about 11 weeks and ended up in hospital after collapsing through loss of blood.

Had it all checked out at the EPU and everything seems to have gone now but a week later and I'm still suffering from a really bad headache that doesn't seem to be getting better. I'm also very pale and washed out. I haven't phoned the doctor yet because I keep thinking I will feel better soon but I don't seem to be improving.

Does anyone have any tips/advice? Would be very grateful as I'm getting fed up of feeling so crap.

poor you - what a horrible thing to go through. It sounds like you could be aneamic through blood loss, and also dehydrated.

You need to rest loads. And eat food rich in iron - spinach for example - (remember vitamin C helps the absorption of iron; milk hinders the absorption of iron). FLoradix is a solution that is rich in iron and nutrients - I think you can just buy this from your pharmacy.

Have you checked your temperature?

You should speak to a doctor about the headache, and also about iron supplements.

All the best.

Oh that's great, thank you so much Belgo. I think I will go to the doctors, it doesn't seem right that the headache hasn't gone after a week.

Will go and munch some spinach immediately. Thanks again, much appreciated.

It took me several weeks to get over mine, just through ordinary blood loss. Finally got some sensible advice from a locum who told me it would take me as long to get over it as a normal pregnancy would take. Give yourself a chance to grieve a little too.

Wise words from your locum, thank you.

iyes, it takes a while for your hormones to get back to normal, and I found my first period post m/c was just awful, almost like a second m/c.

Oh it's all just rubbish isn't it? Sorry to hear you've been through it too.

how are you Mrs Wednesday?

MrsWednesday · 06/01/2008 20:44

Thanks for asking after me, belgo. I'm feeling better today, have been swigging a vitamin tonic, taking things easy and eating loads of food and I can feel the energy levels improving. How are you doing?
