Humerus broken in two places

I'm a complete idiot who fell off the bus. I thinki was jostled slightly and just went straight down, one step. This was Thursday.

Currently casted and really really hurting despite painkillers. Going to speak to shoulder consultant tomorrow about surgery Vs conservative management but they seem keen on surgery. I'm sixteen weeks pregnant though and have so many questions.

I'm also in excruciating pain. DP is great in a crisis and got me to and from a and e and everything but he's dyspraxic so normally I do all practical things and it's maddening I can't. He showered.me last night with bin bags round my cast and it was a real.mess, water everywhere. I'm so grateful for him but also want/need my independence.

Please can you tell me when it got better and how if you did this? Every little move is excruciating.

Also, such a non issue but I've not been able to shave my armpits since I broke it and it feels so weird and gross. Dp says this is just socialisation which I get but it's something I've done twice a week since I was a teenager and I hate it.

@theotherfossilsister -how are you doing now?

We've just got back from a trip to Greece. I was unsure about going ut it has been cancelled twice and the rest of family were looking forward to it. Glad we went and, apart from throwing up on the way out due to the pressure and morphine combo, it was a great trip and I'm glad we went.

I'm not wearing the sling all time the time now as it aches to be in one position for too long. I've started physio which is painful but necessary. Still got very little movement in my shoulder (can't raise it above 45 degrees).

Seeing a consultant on the 20th and will then work out my return to work plan. I feel so much better than I did 2 weeks ago but know there is a long way still to go.

Is everything ok with your baby?

Still not able to shower on my own - husband shaving my armpits for me!

@PiratePenguin ah Greece is beautiful. Where did you go?

I'm yet to start physio but kind of looking forward to it if it gives my arm back. Currently can bend forty five degrees at shoulder and elbow which is definitely an improvement on how it was before. It also doesn't feel loose and crunchy now.

Baby was ok at twenty week scan last week, thank you, although all I do is worry.

Back at work on reception duties and half hours Tuesday. Can also now do sleeves without pain by pulling them over with the other arm. DP refuses to shave my armpits but I'm getting there and can sort of do a sitting down shower on my own if he squeezes shampoo on for me.

I'm at the hospital Wednesday. When are you next in?
