We've slowly passed a tummy bug through our family. General malaise and grogginess, leading up to 24hrs of diarrhoea, vomiting etc., tailing off with nausea and heartburn.

Except I stopped vomming and diarrhoeing on Thursday night (I was about a day 'behind' DH) and both of us still have really terrible heartburn and intermittent nausea.

I've never had anything like this before. Am I doomed to a life of perpetual acid reflux now? Has anyone else had this?

Oh dear - I had norovirus once and felt awful for about 10 days, totally wiped out. I would stick to a plain little and often diet, keep well hydrated & have some capsule form probiotics. Stomach bugs can wipe out lactase the enzyme that digests milk sugar lactose, so it might be an idea to avoid dairy or have lactose free products until you are feeling better.

No it will pass.

It’s worth trying probiotics to build back up your gut health - I find symprove is good.

Yes, totally normal. Get some probiotics / Actimel / Yakult and reduce other dairy consumption until the bugs that can digest the lactose have replenished. Avoid spicy foods etc.

We picked up something we hand't planned on during a visit to my in laws. We had similar symptoms my Mother in law gave me a tube of Enterosgel which helped. I gave it to the whole family and it really helped. It's a gel that you mix with water. My son's a bit funny with taking medication but I mixed it with his juice and he didn't notice. Agree with taking probiotics as well, tummy bugs always clear out the good bacteria in your gut.

I hope you feel better soon.
