Teeth clenching at night - anyone manage to stop?

I clench my teeth badly at night. My dentist says I’ll need to get fitted with a mouth guard, but I was wondering if that’s the only way?

He said it was quite expensive (!), and that the generic ones aren’t good. So the price is a factor, and also I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to tolerate wearing it.

Would love to hear any tips! Did anyone solve teeth clenching with or without a mouth guard?

Would you describe it your teeth are fizzing or on edge. That's how I describe it. I wear my guard as much as possible for weeks and this feelings seems to be a bit better
