Raised ALT in pregnancy - any similar experiences?

Hi everyone. I’m just hoping to hear from anyone who’s experienced anything similar. I’m 26 weeks pregnant and went to my doctor with symptoms of anaemia. She decided to run a full blood panel which did show anaemia but also raised ALT levels in my liver function test. All other liver values were normal. They repeated the tests to check if it was a one off but they’d actually raised slightly again. I have no symptoms of OC, pre eclampsia or HELLP, blood pressure is on the low side, no protein in urine, no itching, headaches etc. besides tiredness (which I put down to the anaemia) I’m fine. I’m now having a liver screen and test for infections but just really wanted to hear from anyone who’s had something like this and how it turned out. Thanks in advance.

Hello! It turned out to be my pregnancy vitamins causing the issue (Pregnacare Max). My doctor explained thar they pack them with so much rubbish the body doesn’t need that the liver goes into overdrive trying to clear it all out. She advised folic acid and vitamin D only and to stay clear of multi vits in future pregnancies. So if you’re on any, try pausing them and maybe your ALT will go down. Mine was back to normal within 2 weeks of stopping them. Hope you’re ok and all goes well x
