Severe stomach pain and diarrhoea

Hi

Kind of desperately seeking advice now. Since Thursday last week, I've had diarrhoea. I assumed period poops as I came on that day, and when it lasted longer than normal I assumed it was because i was 15 days late so my body was working extra hard.

By Sunday evening, the stomach pain began. A dull ache all over my belly with regular sharp pains lower down. On advice of pharmacist, I took immodium. This didn't do anything. Called GP on Tuesday who prescribed codeine to block me up. They were blaming diarrhoea on an antibiotic medicine im on long term despite having been symptom free on it for 3 weeks and having stopped taking it when the diarrhoea began. Took codeine once, and it made the dull ache so much worse and I felt so swollen and constipated. Didn't take another dose after this. Yesterday, I called 111 for advice and they told me to go to a&e. I was seen within an hour by a dr who examined my belly and said she didn't think it was my antibiotics causing the issue, but said both immodium and codeine would slow recovery if it was a bug or food poisoning. But she also didn't think it was a bug or food poisoning as my partner and 1.5 year old are both fine and we ate the same things. She commented on mucus in my stool, and a high HR but didn't offer suggestions other than high HR is normal when in pain. She told me to take buscopan and not eat for 2 days despite the fact my last meal was Sunday midday. She said to try and drink fluids even though this makes the sharp pains a lot worse and recommended flat lemonade, lucozade or lucozade sport. She said to call GP back in 2 days if no better.

Woken today and despite not having any food in me, I still had a lot of diarrhoea this morning. Diarrhoea has now stopped but the sharp pains are getting more and more regular and make feel like I need to go to the toilet but nothing comes out. Almost like I'm constipated.

Waiting on a call back from GP this morning, but I'm scared of being fobbed off again. I literally want to die, the pain is so awful. I had a very traumatic birth 1.5 years ago, with 3 days of labour, sepsis, emergency c section where my epidural wore off during the procedure, paralysed bowel, emphysema, pleurisy, acute kidney injury etc and that all feels like a walk in the park compared to how I feel now.

Any advice at all? I'm going to request they do a stool sample but in the mean time I desperately need help for the pain.

Tell them you’ve had blood in your stool, I’ve had similar situations and this is what got me admitted both times.

You have to make a screaming fuss and refuse to go anywhere until they treat it as an emergency - it’s really hard when you are ill I know - is there someone who can advocate for you? , they are terrible at ignoring stomach symptoms until they are really serious.
