Help! Has anyone got any tips? 4th baby - 7 weeks today. really struggles to burp - spend ages after feeding trying to wind him. He possetts quite a lot if he doesn't burp up to couple of hours after feeding although putting on weight ok. He doesn't settle very well between feeds preferring to lie with his tummy on my chest which is fine but as i have three other children can't get on with anything very much! He sometimes makes funny squeaking noises & when i pick him up he does burp also he sometimes can't close his mouth round his dummy which i've been told is wind. He's bf C&G premium. He also grunts & strains in the night which although doesn't wake him wakes me up. Does this sound like trapped wind?

yes
my second ds dis the grunting in the night just like that but his wind came up soon after feeding

Don't know what to suggest, sorry, could you carry him in a sling instead of lying him on your chest as you get on with other things?

have just spoken to HV who says she's sure it's trapped wind and he will probably grow out of it by 3 - 4 months (only another 2 1/2 months to go then!).

Have you tried Infacol?

KathH · 19/11/2004 16:45

yes - have been trying that for the past week although not noticed a difference yet but seem to remember takes a while to kick in.

Massage his tummy with dill oil in a base oil such as sweet almond oil
