Any ideas on what is going on with my right foot? (Pics attached)

Hello lovely Mumsnetters.

I have a red, itchy area on the side of my right foot that seems to be getting bigger, and has been going on for about a week. The itching has at times been awful and has been driving me a bit mad. This morning I definitely think the red patch has gotten a bit bigger (hence taking the photos so I have something to compare it to later).

It may well be relevant that I returned from a lovely holiday to Tenerife about a week ago and I spent a fair bit of time out there in sandals / barefoot so it's possible I was bitten on my foot out there or stood on something although I don't remember anything or this sort happening. I've been taking antihistamines for about a week and it hasn't really helped much.

Any ideas on what it might be and the best way to treat it?

Thanks, KitKat1985

I don’t know what it is. My DD got a splinter in her foot running bare foot in the garden, the next few days a red patch appeared which seemed to get bigger.

Although it didn’t look much, I took her to A&E. it was diagnosed as cellulitis. She was given antibiotics. Cellulitis can be serious.

Your red rash looks similar to hers, but obviously there can be lots of other causes and you’ve had it a while, whereas hers happened over two/three days.

I would suggest drawing around the rash so you can tell if it’s getting bigger, and perhaps looking up cellulitis on line and see if the symptoms match.

Best of luck.

Thank you @sleepymum50 I'll keep a close eye on it just in case.
