Your supposed to take a COURSE of very very strong antibiotics as soon as the rash appears.

If you have had Lyme for a long time then you need to change your diet and strengthen your entire immune system.

I had the antibiotics within a few days of the rash appearing.

Yes, I had 21 days of antibiotics and the bullseye rash faded off. It’s much more difficult to treat later on but it is possible.

hihellohihello · 20/02/2022 20:53

Yes. I just took the antibiotics and tried not to think too much about it. Tbh it's all you can do. No point worrying. If you're ill after that mention it but plenty of people do get over Lymes.

I had the rash appear and got antibiotics. I didn’t finish the course and still get flare ups of symptoms.

Suehuang99 · 20/02/2022 21:05

What antibiotics did you take

I took the course of antibiotics, not entirely sure I had Lyme but one of the tests was positive and I was horribly ill and GP was happy to prescribe. Doxycycline 2 X100mg for 21 days. Highly recommend taking a probiotic alongside or eat lots of natual yoghurt. Also makes you very light sensitive. Proper sunscreen even at this time of year.

Yes - had the bullseye rash and started the antibiotics that same day. 21 days of doxycycline antibiotics.

Poppetlove · 20/02/2022 21:16

Doxycycline, if it doesn’t work there are others.
Is your infection new?
If you have gastro symptoms antibiotics might make them worse.

I had 21 days of doxycycline. Was very unwell during that time with pain deep into my joints. Spent about a month sleeping on the sofa but 4 years on have no symptoms.

I took probiotics to help my stomach cope with the doxy.

womaninatightspot · 21/02/2022 08:49

@Suehuang99 It did my symptoms were mostly neurological though. Headaches, facial paralysis and twitching, tremors. I also started other medication at the same time for nerve pain and a power anti inflammatory so not sure what worked.

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 21/02/2022 08:49

Yes I took antibiotics for 3 weeks after a tic bite started to have a rash. That’s nearly a year ago and all ok

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 21/02/2022 08:50

I was told not to take a probiotic with the antibiotics

I was told to space them out by a couple of hours, apparently it's effective at reducing antibiotic associated diarrhea. I'm sure they didn't recomend this previously as there was this idea they'd cancel each other out.
