Hello

My baby (who weighed 9lbs 10z i.e. big at birth) is now 13 months and while I am back to the size 12 I was before pregnancy, my abdomen looks like a man's beer belly - really flabby and sticking out. I can also feel that my abdominal muscles are still separated - about two or three fingers width around the navel and a finger width up a bit higher I think. Any ideas on what I should do? I'm thinking of making a doc appointment. I did all the usual exercises and then stopped for around two months as I didn't have time and it seems to be getting worse. Does anyone have experience of exercise really helping at this stage?

I haven't had any personal experience of this except via two friends, both of whom started off slim and still several years down the line have a large stomach. Both have been told that their stomach muscles separated too far and both have been told there is nothing to be done short of surgery. Sorry.

That may not be the case for you though, so it would be worth seeing the doctor to see if exercise would still help.
