Bladder pain with pain under side ribs - gallstone or kidney?

Help! I've had a couple of episodes of this over the last few weeks but it's quite bad tonight - sharp bladder pain and pain under my right side ribs too, nearer the back than the front. As I have a gallstone I assumed it was that but could it be associated kidney pain? Not sure what to do. Doing water, paracetamol and heat pad at the moment.

Bumping - don't know if I need to ring 111 or just ride it out.

I don’t know but I’m bumping for you.

Ring 111. If you’re in severe pain it needs checking out.

Thanks. The paracetamol has taken the edge off. Still needing to wee a lot but it doesn't sting. Don't know what to think

I had severe pain there a year ago. Went to A&E who diagnosed kidney infection. After 5 days on antibiotics and no change I ended up on a drip for 8 days with cholecystitis and gall bladder removal.

That sounds awful. Did you have bladder pain? Just can't figure out if the two areas of pain I have are linked but seems too coincidental not to be? Hope you're OK now

When I went into A&E with pain on right side under ribs and radiating into my back, like having a stake pushed from front to back, they thought it was kidneys and did a CAT scan, accidentally caught sight if my gallbladder and realised it was gallstones. Bloods and temperature showed infection so I was put on an IV and pain killers. Stayed in hospital 3 days before they decided that the gallbladder needed to come out because the antibiotics weren't doing anything.

So I guess that means the pain can be in a really similar area! That sounds like it was awful.

Feel really hot and nauseous this morning. Waiting for call back from GP

How are you OP?

IHeartKingThistle · 17/02/2022 18:50

Thanks for asking. I went to GP this morning and got antibiotics. Kidney pain, not gallstone. Just hoping they kick in now! Felt super nauseous this morning but a bit better this afternoon.
