How can one human being generate so much snot?

Blow nose. Fill mansize tissue. Sit back sofa. 20 seconds later, have to blow nose again. Another whole mansize tissue.

Has been like this since yesterday and nose is now giving Rudolph a run (hah! no pun was intended) for his money.

Where does it all come from?

I'd love to know too (any biologists/medics around who can enlighten us??).

We all had this before Christmas and I've never known so much sneezing and nose running and coughing. It does go away (eventually!). Hope you feel better soon.

DH's theory is that nature didn't intend us to blow our noses because it just generates more snot Obviously I just smiled and nodded as I opened my 17th pack of Tempo.

WE're in snot hell too. Thank goodness for those tissues with balm, I say. And am now applying vaseline to my nose every time I blow, to mitigate the Rudolph effect.

Germolene works well, although it stings a bit. Mind you, there's not much point putting anything on because the minute I blow my nose it's gone again!

Franke - interesting theory of your dh's. What are we supposed to do, let it drip down our fronts?!

It's obvious, innit - it's our brains coming out! I started a cold 2.5wks ago and my brains are still dripping down the back of my throat. Yuk. (Snot/brain emoticon)

SantaBeClausImWorthIt · 02/01/2008 17:50

OMG - I won't have any brains left if it carries on like this!

Yup, that's the sad truth, Santa. It's why I'm like I am today.
