Rash on cheeks......Slapped cheek?

Following on from another thread, DS1s rash has gone from his arms and legs but has now(since y'day) settled on his face. Its very very red and blotchy. Of course all the Drs surgeries are closed as its bank holiday and a trip to out of hours dr would be traumatic (long walk, 2 yo and 4 yo, 29 weeks pg not supposed to go far or do much)

If it is slapped cheek then he has already passed the contagious stage as far as i can see, but it doesn't tally with any pictures i can find of it.

DS1s rash looks like a big blotch, like sunburn or heat rash whereas the rash pics i have found (including one of my sister when she had it when she was youger) the rash looks more like its raised and itchy and sore....confused!

Could it be just eczema caused by the cold? My DS had a spotty rash on his face last winter, known as 'spit eczema' and the eczema on his legs comes back every year when it gets colder. Have you tried aqueous cream?

its not eczema-y at all. we kep slapping on diprobase to cool it if nothing else. Its not spotty just blotchy.

Ds2 had slapped cheek when he was 2.5. he was off colour and had bright red cheeks. It was not raised or itchy. Not really blotchy either, just smooth bright red cheeks - one side more than the other. GP said nothing to do or worry about - keep away from pregnant women, which of course I was at the time and had a miscarriage, but no idea if it was related.

but if it was slapped cheek he's is likely to not be contagious now the rash has come.

ANd i am pregnant - 29 weeks. Will get him to Dr tomo

Think it's past the contagious stage when the rash has come and I think it's more dangerous earlier in pregnancy. I was only 6 weeks when ds2 got it. Hope you're both ok.

ds' slapped cheek wasn't a raised rash, more like sunburn or teething.

Ah,does slapped cheek show on legs and arms then?
Ds had a weird one day rash where he looked as if he had sat too close to a gas fire.

LIZS · 02/01/2008 17:42

ds was more blotchy/lacey and darker on legs, arms and body

DS had Slapped cheek when he was 3, like schilke's DS2, it was not raised or itchy, just smooth and red. It was only on his face too.

What you describe sounds like it could be a food allergy?
