Hi all, please bare with me I’m not sure if this will make sense or how to ask it. I’ll try and keep it short and sweet.

I did an econsult because I had been feeing really tired. I had an email reply from a healthcare professional to book a blood test.

I had the blood test Thursday morning and was told to call for my results in 3-5 days (this is normal protocol and what I’m used to)

I went on to my NHS app this evening (Sunday) for an unrelated reason and happened to see that an appointment has been made for me to see a doctor next Monday. Now I’m worried because I haven’t requested this appointment or been told about it (yet).

I will call in the morning to see why but I’m panicking myself because I’ve never had this happen before.

Normally after a blood test if I call after a few days they will either say its normal and thats it or if I am deficient they will tell me what in and that a doctor has written a prescription for iron tablets for example and that’s the end of that.

Has anyone had this situation before, should I be worried or is this routine? I guess I’m worrying even more because at the moment actual appointments are hard enough to get anyway especially with an actual doctor.

Thank you for reading this far.

Does your app show the type of appointment? When we book Admin slots for our GPS we have to be careful to label them as patient related Admin as they can be seen on the app.
It may also be that the results are clear so need to discuss next steps to treat your symptoms?
If results were urgent you would have had a phone call or message to contact them.
Hope you get some reassurance on Monday.

Under appointment type it says~ Clinician: doctors name - eCon - Team Lead

I guess I’m just worrying because I have never had an appointment booked for me with out me having to call and arrange it if that makes sense?

Thank you Smile

Please don't worry. It could just be an appointment for low iron / thyroid etc doesn't mean it's serious. Just means they want to talk through with you xx

Could it be a phone appointment? I had a call from the doctor when I had low vitamin D, Iron and B12 on a previous blood test. Just to tell me to collect a prescription and also a bit of a chat about how to get the levels up. And also if it is next Monday, that's good sign because if it was really urgent, it wouldn't be 1 week+ after them getting the results back to speaking to you about it

Forgot to mention, when I had very low iron levels the doctor wanted to ask questions about periods, diet, lifestyle etc incase there was a more serious reason for having such low iron. Could that be it in your case ?

I think I overreacted Blush I logged in to another app and there was a bit more detail saying that it was a call about blood results. I feel a bit more relieved now. Thank you all for the reassurance, I think you’re probably right and it will be about low iron or something along those lines.
