If you have Sjogrens Syndrome, what were your initial symptoms that prompted your diagnosis?

I have terrible dry eyes (MGD), a dry mouth, chronic postnasal drip (constant throat clearing and thick mucus in my throat, especially at night), an itchy red rash on my abdomen which is more or less constant, thinning hair at the front and I feel very tired a lot of the time. Obviously this could be many things but I want to see if I can get my GP to refer me to a specialist. What kind of specialist deals with diagnosis of SS (is it a rheumatologist)?

Evening, OP,

Just bumping this for you in hopes someone is about tonight who may have some advice or info for you.

Hi OP, I don't have SS (I have Psoriatic arthritis) but it is dealt with by rheumatologists as it is an autoimmune disease. I believe it might be diagnosed my lip biopsy? Don't quote me. But be prepared for a battle with your GP because autoimmune disorders are hard to diagnose. You might want to ask for blood tests to include thyroid, iron, vitamins, inflammatory markers and autoimmune markers? Good luck!

Yes, a rheumatologist.
I had (have) horribly dry eyes, dry mouth, fatigue and dry skin

Hi OP, it's incredibly difficult to diagnose but can be done through a lip biopsy. It can be quite painful. There is a really helpful group on Facebook called Sjogrens Support UK which has lots of advice on.
