Poorly BF baby coughing, gagging then puking: any tips?

My poor little one (4 months) has been struggling with a cold virus for days now and is now at the streaming snotty coughing stage.

Problem is he's also been on a nursing strike and we've had a tough time getting enough fluids into him. Now he's leaking mucus everywhere it seems everytime he has a feed and goes to sleep, he coughs, gags on whatever he's coughing up, then pukes up whatever remains of his feed.... Ah joy. TBH more pissed off about losing the precious BM which is in short supply now since my supply dropped a bit while he was on strike, despite frantic pumping

Does anyone have any tips for preventing this happening? Much appreciated, ta.

He's swallowing mucus (snot) which is what's causing him to gag and puke.

Keep his fluid intake up, with water if necessary, and keep pumping to stimulate your supply. You'll soon be back to normal. It's horrid at that age when they get a snotty cold, isn't it?

sorry should have said the strike is now over and he's feeding OK again but he's sicked up 3 feeds today and 2 yesterday and I know it's only the snot/coughing causing it so it is so frustrating
