What the heck is going on with my toes?! (Gross-ish picture alert)

So these painful scabby things have started appearing one by one on my toes. What is it?! Why?

I haven’t hurt them, this is not happening because of any bashing etc.

If it helps, I have raynaud’s.

(I will see the doc about this, it just takes ages to get an appointment!)

Chilblain? (Though that bigger one looks too nasty for a chillblains…)

Verruca?

Definitely see a doctor.

You’re not diabetic?

BobbieT1999 · 31/01/2022 18:44

Ooh that looks sore! If you can't get in to see a doctor go to the podiatrist.

Toelooksgross · 31/01/2022 18:49

So I did think I had a verruca on the worse toe about a month ago (I swim a lot), and I put Bazucca on the area. I don’t know if it can be related to that?!! But this isn’t how veruccas have ever developed for me in the past, so now I’m not so sure. And I didn’t put an Bazucca on the other toe!

Because of my raynaud’s, i do “overreact” to the cold. So maybe it could be chillblains!

Good shout on a podiatrist if I can’t get to the doc!

I’m not diabetic (that I know of!). Generally fit and healthy.

Covid toes?

MargotEmin · 31/01/2022 18:53

"Covid toes"

Yep it might be worth doing a LFT, my toes went weird when I had Covid

Toelooksgross · 31/01/2022 18:53

Whoa!! I didn’t think I’d had covid yet. But maybe I did asymptomatically - apart from my toes?!? ShockShock

I’m taking an LFT right now!

I have Raynauds op and also currently covid at the moment. My toes have gone very itchy and red, the pain is very similar to the pain I get with chilblains but I think this is covid related for me. I would definitely try and get a gp appointment as you don't want your toes getting infected. I would call 111 this evening so you can get an appointment.

Seeline · 31/01/2022 19:02

Have you had covid?

Covid toe is a thing

Toelooksgross · 31/01/2022 19:03

My LFT is negative. But these did coincide with my booster, now that I think of it. Might be a coincidence - but got me thinking!

Good idea about 111 to get an appointment.

I’ve been sort of ignoring them until now - but my son stepped on my foot tonight (he’s little and not heavy) and it hurt more than it should so I thought I better sort this! (Which is when I posted Grin)

Ive read about covid toes. Or could it be a fungal infection.

Unihorn · 31/01/2022 19:07

I currently have this (and don't have covid) and it's happened to me a couple of times over the past year on colder days. I suspected I may have Raynaud's, and when I've been Googling I assumed mine were related to chilblains, though mine haven't quite broken the skin like yours. Mine are more like bad blisters at the moment.

EmpressSuiko · 31/01/2022 19:15

Chilblains

EmpressSuiko · 31/01/2022 19:17

Sorry posted too soon, I get them when I walk around barefoot in winter, they are very sore and itchy and last quite a few weeks!

Oblomov22 · 31/01/2022 19:18

Wow, just looked up covid ties. A bit grim!
