Swelling and pain in upper left stomach

tryingnottopanic33 · 27/01/2022 14:39

I noticed a few days ago that my stomach looks wonky. The upper left quadrant sticks out further than the right. It is especially noticeable after I have eaten.

I have been to the GP this morning who could see what I meant even though it wasn't quite as obvious as I hadn't eaten much.

She has referred me for blood tests and an ultrasound and I am utterly terrified. I'll admit to having health anxiety, so although I didn't dare ask what she was checking for I have of course have come home and googled and got all the worst possible outcomes.

Has anyone experienced this kind of uneven bloating?

Did the GP say it would be under the two week wait system or did they give you another time frame?

You could make notes of symptoms between now and follow up - this may help spot any patterns or symptoms etc.

Impossible to say don't worry but try not to - sounds like they are taking it seriously & could be many things.

If worried Could ask Gp to clarify -

She didn't say and I didn't ask. I expect I could call up and ask - reception might be able to see. Or I could call the hospital and ask them.

Good idea re symptoms, I'll try and do that.

I'm terrible at catastrophising so all the very worst things are running through my head.

So my appointment is in 2 weeks time, so definitely not the 2 week pathway. It'll be about 4 weeks from my GP visit.

I think the bloated feeling was unrelated to the wonky swelling as I am no longer feeling uncomfortable and full but the bulge is still there.
I was blowing up balloons for my children's birthday the other day and it hurts now which makes me think it's something muscular going on.

A little bit worried that my blood tests have come back showing anaemia.... does this mean something is bleeding in there and causing the swelling?
