Ultrasound scan for pain

I have an ultrasound booked in for Friday to identify the cause of chronic pain and cramping in my uterus as well as random bleeding.

Does anyone know if this is more likely to be abdominal or vaginal?

I just want to know what to expect.

It could either or both in my experience. I went for what I thought would be abdominal but they couldn't see everything clearly so had vaginal as well (they did give me the choice to opt out of it but that seemed kind of pointless if they couldn't fully diagnose without it). another time they got everything they needed with just abdo.

I had one yesterday was warned in advance that it would be via vagina probe. Normally if it’s abdominal like they do when pregnant you need have bladder full before hand so would have told you this. With vaginal one you need it empty.
Took about 10min with probe in for them look and take measurements. Not painful just pressure and you can feel it when move it. But gentle enough and plenty of lube hand to be pants and trousers off but do cover with you gown for bottom half and only need glance as put it in then all eyes on screen for rest of time
