Hello!

Just our of interest how is everybody's general overall health this winter ? My family is not healthy this winter at all- cold after cold, turning into tonsilitis , sinusitis (thankfully not been hit by covid yet!!!)

Context:
-we have been trying to move house for a year (stress levels are high!)

  • husband works 5 days a week from home for 2 years rarely having any social contact
  • I work 4 mornings a week from home with hardly any social contact

Our daughter began nursery in October and BAM she got cold after cold after cold snd of course , we caught everyone - but to an extreme where they turn into sinusitis and tonsilitis. I have just come out of hospital with quinsey as the tonsilitis got SO bad!

Is this just us? I am so stressed out and fed up of our lack of health . I have never been so grateful for good health before now and will never take health for granted ever again

There are a lot more of the "normal" winter bugs and viruses around this year. I'm just getting over a horrendous virus, which definitely wasn't covid (PCR done) but had to have time off work as I felt like death warmed up. First time I've been properly ill in over 2 years and it floored me. Probably brought in by my teens from school.

Wow sorry to hear you ended up hospitalised! I think a lot of us have been living in a sterile bubble due to covid and since we've been mixing more, general bugs have just exploded.

It certainly does feel like there are more of the normal viruses about and they are everywhere at the moment!
Bring on the spring!!!

First DC starting nursery is often a time of lots of viruses and illnesses. I remember when DS1 started nursery he had an illness every 2 weeks for the entire winter - it was hideous! I also caught several of them and ended up with sinusitis and felt like death warmed up. So no, not unusual to suffer as you have done, I'm afraid.

@zafferana thank you for commenting! It is comforting to know that we are not the only ones going through this and it is common especially for a first child starting nursery. It really is hideous ! I do wonder if it's worse as we've been so tucked up and shielded for so long at home with covid restrictions? I do wonder if our stress impacts too - whatever though , it's good to know it is common for us adults to catch the bugs off the kiddies !!
