Pain down right side of body only

I've had this on and off for years and it's really weird. The pain isn't debilitating but every so often I'll find that the right side of my body really aches, from my ankle up to my shoulder. I do a lot of exercise but I stretch afterwards and my left side is fine.

My is desk-based job, I am right-handed and tend to carry my handbag on my right shoulder but I'm not sure why that would affect my lower body!

Has anyone had anything similar or am I just a medical freak?? Grin

Must be just me who gets this then!

I have this (right shoulder hurts, right arm, elbow, ankle, slight tension in knee, foot hurts.for no reason at all) and then the left side starting showing similar symptoms but the right is always worst. I’ve since been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. It sort of crept up on me, painful but not enough to make a fuss, Infact gradually just got used to low pain level...then yrs after it revved up!
I hoped it’s not fibromyalgia for you, it’s nasty condition. Please see your GP ASAP and don’t brush it off like I did.

Blimey @Lulan I never thought of that! I've had it on and off for about 9 years so if it was fibromyalgia I would've thought it'd be a lot worse by now. A masseuse told me a few years ago that I had a slight spinal curvature so I'm not sure if that could be causing it too.

Sounds like I need to stop ignoring and get to my GP.

It might not be fibromyalgia. But fibromyalgia takes its time. I very gradually got worse over 15yrs. Just muscular aches, feeling tender on the right but with One very achy part (shoulder....made sure I always had heat rub in my bag) and carried on . I started to notice I would ache especially first thing in the morning although after hobbling about a bit it would lessen then I’d be okay. I did see the GP at various points e.g when I the aching first in the morning started getting me down a bit, then again when feet just hurt for nothing, each time I was dismissed with , ‘your just a bit stiff and could benefit from some physio).

Then came Yr 15! My hands felt tender to touch first thing in the morning, the left side started playing up a bit , Infact everything felt tender like I was coming down with a fever but never quite. Then one day I hurt so much I couldn’t get out of bed. It felt like I’d been run over by a truck. The diagnosis then happened.

I did wish I had pushed more over the years with the GP and complained more because some parts of it had got worse, e.g had developed hip bursitis and tennis elbow without realising!

So please push with your GP, it can be hard to diagnose because There is a crossover of symptoms with so many other conditions which is why the average no of yrs for fibromyalgia diagnoses is I think is 12yrs!

But also, I’m hoping for you it’s something much milder than you can take medication for and make a full recovery.

That's genuinely scary @Lulan, I'll be ringing the surgery tomorrow 😳
