Toddler with D&V - how long before calling DR? Any home remedies?

DS who is 2.6 has been sick the last 2 nights. Both mornings (ie yesterday & today)he has woken up and eaten a decent breakfast but then it has gone pretty much straight through and he has turned down all food for the rest of the day. Yesterday he was on good form despite being unwell but today he is much more fed up. Am giving him plenty of cooled boiled water with sugar & salt. He doesn't have a temperature.

This is our first experience of this and am not sure when I should be contacting the DR. Any advice very welcome!

Stick to clear liquids and avoid milky drinks. If you can get to the chemist, you can buy Dioralyte (not sure if that's how you spell it) sachets which you add to water and are specifically designed to replace salts and minerals lost through D&V. If there's no temperature and no pain, I'd give it 24-48 hours before calling a Dr.

Thnaks MummyDIUTM. DP is out so have just rang him to get some Dioralyte. We have been v lucky that DS has never really had a bug so am a bit clueless about it all!

I'd give it a few days. Try flat lemonade or coke, or dioralyte, in small sips. If he has an appetite offer dry foods such as toast rather than cereal and milk at first. BRAT diet(Bananas, Rice, Apple(?), Toast) is good for starters but offically there is no need to actually avoid dairy as such (yoghurt contains probiotics which can help) but nothing in large quantities or gulped down. As long as he drinks he'll be fine for a couple of days then gradually build up his appetite
