Edema for over 6 months. Dr seemingly disinterested

I have posted about this before but I can think under what user name. I have edema on my hands, on my face, my wrists, and my ankles. I'm pulling on weight ( did intermittent fasting last week and put on four pounds).

I have been to the Dr multiple times. Lots of tests. So far nothing is wrong with me. I'm awaiting a heart echo result from a echo over two months ago ( I'm assuming that cant be heart failure or they wouldnt take two months to look at the echo??) Bloods for heart, kidneys liver fine. Leg doppler fine. The Dr said its non pitting but I think it is pitting now?

I have put three stone on since first going to the gp about this. I saw a Dr in training today but she was the most dismissive of all the Drs.

Any ideas on
A) what this could be?
B) anything I can do to relive it?

Today's dr didnt belive I was swollen as she not seen me before so she thinks this is just fat. Including my hand. Could it just be fat? If so i went on a calorie restrictive diet for two weeks i would loose weight surely? That's about the only option i have left now

Well done op, that's a good start.

Don't beat yourself up about the walking. Just think to yourself that you did 7k which was really. Consistency is key.

Also, there's no need to starve yourself! If you make a nice chunky soup with veg and beans with maybe some chicken and a slice of wholegrain bread spread thinly with butter that will keep you going.

BBC Good Food website is very good for recipes if you get stuck.

You need to make these things a habit so that it's a lifestyle change rather than a diet.

How much water do you drink? That can help I think. And cut out caffeine?
You're not going to see much after a week I wouldn't have thought. It'll have to be a bit more long term. Well done on the walk. That is a great start.

Hopefully I will loose something in a fourth night or I'm not going to be any clearer if its fat or water.

I do drink a fair amount each day. I'm cutting down on tea as the milk adds to the calories.

I dont really want to in a position where I'm the same weight in a month as I'm not going to get any further with my gp.

Without the echo I'm worried I'm chugging along with heart failure at worse. Unlikely as no heart markers in my bloods. But something isnt right.

Do you drink water though or something like fizzy drinks? It's just that my friend had swelling in her legs and when she swapped to water it went away.

WhiteJellycat · 19/01/2022 14:31

No I dont drink fizzy drinks. Water, tea and sugar free squash but i always have done so nothing new that would cause swelling really
