Urgent - my mum is in hospital for d and c due to heavy bleeding and now has been told she needs a hysterectomy next month? Does this mean it's cancer?

Just got in from hosp. Does this mean it's cancer? She is overweight so that increases her risk doesn't it?

It could be just that she has fibroids which are causing the bleeding, if there are a lot of them and she is finished with her womb it may be the best course of action for her in the long term.

It didn't for mine, and she was pretty overweight.

Don't panic until you've got cause to ...
1)if it isn't cancer, then you don't want to lose your Christmas to an unfounded worry
2) if it is cancer, it will still be cancer after Christmas and you'll have time to worry then.
