How long after pre-op assessment and actual surgery?

Can anyone advise please?

I had a pre-op assessment at my local hospital at the beginning of November last year but have yet to get an appointment for surgery. I looked on the NHS website and it says the duration before surgery is days - obviously it's running into weeks now. I'm getting concerned that I may have been overlooked.

Depends on what surgery and how long the waiting list is. At the moment waiting times are horrific. I would get in touch with either the person named on the appointment letter or pre assessment. I'm afraid you might be in for a wait though.

Can you call the consultants secretary and ask them?

At my hospital the MRSA swabs run out after 28 days so I would imagine the pre op does the same.

I've tried to get in touch with the surgeon's secretary - hopefully she'll return my call at some point.

I know that waiting lists are long but assumed that being called in for a pre-op assessment meant that I would be given a surgery date fairly imminently.

My DP was told his pre assessment was valid for three months.
