V+D in 11mo, how long does it last before I get really worried

DS went to OOHrs Dr on Tuesday evening with severe vomiting, wasn't even keeping water down and was bringing up bile and going red faced, retching. It was horrible. Dr was really nice and reassuring, told us to keep giving fluids in small amounts so just b/f for whole of next day, offered boiled water on Thursday. Thought he was doing better, he was interested in food, was eating toast, sleeping better etc.
On Friday morning he woke at 6, b/f and went back to sleep as normal, woke again at 8 and sat up in cot and chattered at us (we'd moved his cot back into our room while he was ill) and it was lovely as he's normally quite chatty and had gone quiet while ill. The he threw up the milk
The diarrhoea started on Thursday (Dr had told us to expect it) but today he has had four HORRIBLE nappies, two of which leaked all over. Yesterday he was more like his normal self apart from the nappies so we put him back in his own room but today he again had his early b/f but this time threw it up 20 mins later while lying in his cot, fortunately I heard him and was in his room almost before he'd started crying!
I think the sickness is getting better but the diarrhoea seems to be getting worse.
This has been going on since Tuesday and came on pretty suddenly, how long should I let it continue before worrying about dehydration etc? He is better than he was, but certainly not his usual self.

Yorky I think as long as there are some signs of improvement, no matter how small, then you can feel reassured.

Poor little thing. Poor you too. I hope he continues to improve.

when my ds was like this the doctor said to give it a week to see if there was improvement and if there wasnt by that point to provide a stool sample for them to send for analysis. Luckily my ds's diarrhoea was just clearing up by day 6/7 so I didnt need to do anything more. I'd just keep feeding as and when your lo wants and see what happens.
