Weak painful wrists when on period

Stormbraver99 · 08/01/2022 09:42

I'm 46, perimenopausal.
At the moment my periods are still regular.

This has been happening for a few months now and is always when I start my period.
Both wrists go extremely weak. I struggle to grip anything. Also painful around the wrist joints and extending to my hands.
It's really bizarre, but definitely a connection.

My periods have become heavy and painful recently (although some months are worse than others).
PMS is horrendous too.

Does anyone else experience this?

This could very well be menopause related. Joint and muscle pain and weakness are common. See a doctor as it can get worse... my toes, ankles and knees are now sore/stiff/achy along with my wrist to thumb joints. HRT can help if you are able to use it.

Are you hypermobile? I have had this when I get my period since being pregnant the first time. It affects all my ligaments. The only thing that has worked is strengthening exercises (pilates). I also take osteocare vitamins.

This. Hypermobility sucks as you enter the menopause thing.

HRT fixed this for me.

Do you have any hand/wrist or generalised swelling/bloating at period time? Could this be triggering Carpal tunnel syndrome?
