Pain in foot and ankle, I haven't done anything

I woke up yesterday with pain in my ankle and thought maybe I twisted it whilst I was asleep, today I woke up with pain in my ankle and the whole of my foot...the pain is awful and I've been applying heat, why would it hurt like this? I work from home and also been isolating due to covid so I don't think it's anything muscular! I'm a bit concerned as the pain is a good 6/10

You could try the NHS website to find out what it could be.

Yeah I've looked but nothing really fits tbh, I found 'planter fascitis' but the causes for it don't fit so I'm curious if anyone else experienced anything like it

I have plantar fascitis and that sounds like my foot currently.

But agree try googling foot pain and use Google image to try and work out what it could be.

Is the foot swollen or hot? If so, it may be gout or another inflammatory condition.

Second option, have you lifted or carried anything heavy? It may be nerve pain from a back injury.

purplesequins · 04/01/2022 10:57

blood clot.
does it feel swollen?

have you had covid?
birth control pills?

sidesplittinglol · 04/01/2022 10:59

It could be a symptom of another condition as well

Definitely not a blood clot there's no swelling or redness - I am on day 10 of covid but feel absolutely fine symptom wise and did have it fairly mild

I haven't lifted anything heavy it's really strange, pain has radiated up my calf slightly which is painful but mostly my ankle and foot

I was thinking this aswell, but the reason for it happening doesn't seem to fit

I have something similar.
The physio said it was tightened tendons (or something).
He gave me exercises to do which have helped but I probably haven't been doing them frequently enough.
'Worse after rest' was one of the issues, so i have an exercise to do before getting out of bed in the morning.
