Oooooh - I am such a horrible mother !!!

Last week I accidentally shut my dd's finger in a drawer (she's only 2 - I am so vile !!!) and thought it was OK - it was a bit red and hot for a while but she didn't seem bothered by it - anyway the nail has gone all soft and opaque and I think it's going to come off !!

Help - what should I do ?

Thanks !!

Hi scatterbrain - If the nail does come off I would not worry it will grow back. It may not fall off though. I once dropped something on my toe and the nail turned totally black and blue. I thought it would come off but didnt. I dont think you can do anything but wait and see if it heals.

Oh Scatterbrain - I know just how you feel. My ds got his finger caught in the car door when he was 2½ - he screamed for ages and I really was worried. No broken bones, but his nail went through very pretty shades of purple, blue and black and ultimately fell off! All okay now though - he's 6½ - and he happily chews all his nails off

Fetishes about toe-nails - the mind boggles!

Don't worry about it Scatterbrain (or should that be ScatterbrIAn?!). A friend of mine actually chopped her son's finger off shutting it in the front door - the hospital managed to sew it back on fortunately, but she still gets guilt trips.

Titchy - That must have been so awful the mom and even more for her child. It sent chills throughout me reading that.
