Can a UTI cause pain in urethra even when not peeing?

I posted earlier this week about urge incontinence. However, I have now developed symptoms of a UTI.
Down there is burning/stinging constantly and I've also had an accident 3 days in a row Blush.
I spoke to the GP and they prescribed antibiotics but I thought that with a UTI it only stings when you pee but this is constant. Can that happen with a UTI?

Yes I've had constant urethral pain with a UTI, the intense burning you get when you try to pee except it doesn't stop! Have you tried D-mannose OP?

Fuzzyduckduckyfuzz · 01/01/2022 00:15

I had urethritis recently and now swear by azo tablets. They work wonders by relieving pain while the antibiotics work. Only downside is the staining from them turning your wee toxic orange colour

If you have been prescribed Nitrofuarantin, be very careful, I lost the feeling in my feet, legs, fingers & lips while taking it. I still can't feel my legs & feet nearly two years on.

OldWivesTale · 01/01/2022 01:50

Yes it hurts all the time for me

ReesesPieces100 · 01/01/2022 10:25

I haven't had D-mannose, where can you get it? I'm willing to try anything. I feel like a 2 year old, I've never peed myself so much in a week and my bladder control has never been great anyway BlushBlush

I get mine from Sweet Cures online but Holland and Barrett or similar might stock it. Honestly it's been like a miracle cure for me, I used to suffer with recurrent UTI and can't remember the last time I had one now!

Thanks icicle, I'll have a look today.

I had a UTI in sept then Dec. I was lucky enough to be referred to see a nhs pelvic floor for a small bladder prolapse and dodgy pelvic floor. I was 23 stone a few years ago (lost weight since) and have had 4 kids.

I mentioned my UTI. She said it was most likely the sept UTI that came back. She said always have a urine test to check each time

She also told me to take cranberry extract daily. I am.

Re. My pelvic floor. She told me to download the Squeezy app to help monitor the pelvic floor exercises.

I'm finally coming to the end of an awful uti (3 lots of antibiotics later) and I can confirm that the burning is constant, it can be just as horrendous as the pain when you go to the toilet. I second taking D-mannose and also drink alot of lemon barley water, it helps with the burning.

Nitrofuarantin also gave me awful thrush, I recommend getting in some treatment just incase.

You need to be drinking at least a pint an hour & preferably 2-3 pints in the hour before bed so that your urine will be weak next morning because that is the worst time for pain. Order yourself some test strips off Amazon or Ebay so you can test every other day & stop future infections before they start. Take a maintenance dose of D-mannose every day & at least double it if you feel a uti starting. I had two years of constant infections, some so bad I was on the border of sepsis, waking up normally & then a couple of hours later weeing what I can only describe as gravy with tiny blood clots in it.
