Costochondritis - does it cause pain in your arm and shoulder too? r

I've had 2 days of pain in my right side chest, high up at the top of my breast. It hurts more if I press on it, so I hoping it is Costochondritis. Its difficult to sleep. I don't feel unwell in any other way but the pain is barely touched by paracetamol and ibuprofen. I'm away from home and will contact my gp tomorrow, when back.

Has anyone experienced this? Did you also get pain in your arm and back, where your shoulder blade is?

Yes.I get it as though it's a far too small metal corset that encompasses my ribs, chest, breastbone, back, and shoulder blades. Sometimes its a dull ache, sometimes a sickening stabbing knife pain. Most of the time I can't wear a bra as even that sets it off.
I do have fibromyalgia and take lyrica for that, so when the costo's bad, I take an extra one of those which helps it to settle down.

Yes, that describes what I feel. Also the change of pain. Dull at times and now stabbing at other times.

Do heat pads help?

@Heedly I wrote a thread about this the other day. I have what I think is costochondritis but not officially diagnosed. I've been having a really painful chest, just under right breast and sometimes it feels like the actual breast and also aching back. It hurts to cough and if I move in a funny position and also worse at night. I've recently had covid and was coughing a lot and wondered if it could be a result of that

Does it feel like your skin is sunburnt too?

Been having very similar symptoms but for months now

Dx with chest wall pain

I get it now and again, seem to have a flare up at the moment. For me it’s pain under my bottom rib. Feels like a constant stitch, makes even walking difficult. I take ibuprofen for a few days and rest, then it usually settles.

@Heedly , yes, I use wheat bags warmed in the microwave. I also use Arnica GEL (not cream) as it is very cooling when applied and helps reduce the pain.
