Tight chest and fluttery heart.. what on earth could this be?

For the last couple of days, in the evenings especially, I've been having a really painful tight chest. It feels like someone is sitting right on top of it / putting an immense amount of pressure on the top of my chest.

I have also had a strange fluttery feeling in my heart.. I don't know if this even makes sense!! It feels like I'm skipping a beat / catches me off guard and is just awful and really unsettling. I'm sat here as I write this and am hyper aware of the way my heartbeat feels, it just doesn't feel right.

I did have the Moderna booster around 2 weeks ago. Could it be this..? I feel terrified it's something worse.

I do suffer with anxiety but this is definitely not anxiety driven, I know the difference and usually get a bad tummy ache / pain with anxiety. I don't know what to do! It feels like I have to take a really deep breath to try and re regulate my heart rate 😣

Glad you're home and they could t find anything. I've had ecg's before in hospital and every time my BPM were high but when u had holter monitor at home it was normal I think it's because when I'm in hospital I'm so anxious I have a high heart rate

@nonotquite

Hi everyone thank you for your lovely well wishes. Finally discharged earlier this evening. Really frustrating but also I'm glad.. but they couldn't find any abnormalities in my scan, bloods or ECG. I did have my BPM and pulse taken on 4 different occasions and my BPM reached 139 and 'settled' if you can call it that, at 120. Do something definitely isn't right. But just glad I can be at home now.
Are you possibly perimenopausal? That can cause elevated heart rate

OP did they check your thyroid function ?

nonotquite · 28/12/2021 13:01

No I don't believe they did check thyroid.. apologies for my ignorance - but would this come up as an issue in bloods?

They might have checked thyroid function as part of your blood test. Thyroid issues are really common and can cause palpitations etc.

Following with interest as I have same and same results. Do you think you still have the same symptoms and have they changed at all?

How are you doing @nonotquite? Home and feeling better again I hope x
