spots around 16 month old's mouth - anything to worry about?

Dd has a collection of small pink spots around her mouth and on her chin, but nowhere else. She has a runny nose, but no temperature, seems her usual active self although she's not eating much. She is sprouting 3 molars at the moment, so I'm assuming her mouth is sore.

Any suggestions?

If teething, could it be a rash caused by the dribbling?

That's what I was wondering.

She's just woken up from her nap and eaten a whole pear, so I don't think she's of her food really.

might it be hand, foot and mouth? my dd is 15 mo and just had it; luckily, she just had spots around mouth and wasnt really of colour, but it did the rounds and some babies had spots in the mouth etc.

Perhaps give HV a call tomorrow and describe rash to see if she thinks it's anything to worry about. Otherwise you could try going into the pharmacy in the morning if you can, pharmacist are usually really good at diagnosing rashes I've found.

I called our hv this afternoon and left a message on her answer maching. I was going to take her to the gp tomorrow if the hv doesn't call me back , but maybe I will try the pharmacist.

I've heard of hand foot and mouth disease but don't know much about it.

ds has a few spots around his chin tooand on his cheek. just thought it was a rash but nothing to worry about. hadn't though of hand, foot and mouth. do they get lots of spots with that or just a few?

I took her to the gp (and we got the nice gp who likes babies), who gave her the once over and said its nothing to worry about - either sprouting teeth or simply the cold weather. Thanks for asking.

She's now supposed to be having a nap, and I'm enjoying a cup of coffee with the carols on classic fm

Merry Christmas, all
