Teen with gas and loose stools for a month

DD (15) has just told us this!

I have IBS and that was my first thought. Wondering if she should cut down on dairy and see if it makes any difference.

Any thoughts?

Could be IBS, but it would be worth speaking to a GP to rule out other possible causes.

What are her periods like? Endometriosis can cause IBS like symptoms, and not just around the period itself.

If it’s been going on a month you/she should discuss with a gp.

I agree you should take her to GP and have a stool sample tested to rule out anything infectious and not assume IBS/diet related.

I will take her to GP, but thinking that right now thats not going to be easy because of Covid - maybe over Christmas we can track it a bit to see if it's food related. She's fine otherwise.
