Should I go to the doctors ??

Ok, have had a cold for what seems like forever now. I think I had the end of one when Dd2 kindly gave me hers aswell, result = very bad cold, cough, shivers etc etc.

Anyway, every time I think it is on it's way out it comes back, especially the sore throat (left side only) and earache/blocked ear (also left side only).

I am not in pain as such, it is just very irritating and making me very miserable. My mum thinks I should get it checked out before the docs close at midday on Friday, but I am not sure it is doctor worthy.

Any opinions either way ??

I'd go!

I've been putting off going myself because I hate going, but why let it jack up your Xmas?

GO!

loopylou6 · 19/12/2007 22:16

nut cracker, ive been the same, ive had literally one cold after the other for 8 weeks now, feeling particually sorry for myself with the current one, i phoned the nurse this morning and pleaded sinusitis and got antibiotics, dunno if they will work but will give em a go anyway, i suggest u phone the nurse and seek her advice, u may have a sinus infection yourself, sounds likely with the funny feeling face

BrieVinDeAlkaSeltzer · 19/12/2007 22:17

It sounds like a bad sinus infection and you should go to the Drs.

BTW I am proud of you and what you have done this year.

FurtherBTW...... shake ??

I only said it cos I cared.

The delivery stank, the content was spot on.

nutcracker · 19/12/2007 22:17

Yeah I hate going, always feel like I am wasting their time, but you are right, I xdon't want it ruining xmas, plus the fact that I have too much to do to be ill anyhow.

GO, Nutty, GO!!!!!

expatinscotland · 19/12/2007 22:19

you're not a time waster, look at some of the stories on here of reasons why people go into their surgery.

i always ask to see the practice nurse first for an appointment because i really hate seeing a doctor EVER.

nutcracker · 19/12/2007 22:20

Sinus infection ? really ? I thought that was very painful though ? I don't feel in that much pain. Having said that I am a bit doped up and probably wouldn't know.

Brie, I've not really done anything to be proud of, became a drop out again so a bit crap, but I am quite proud of the fact that I felt myself slipping under and did something, even if it was drop out. My mental health is worth more than anything else so if I ever become sane again, i'll give it another go.

Shake

Shake.......>...

expatinscotland · 19/12/2007 22:21

Well you can start by going in to see what's ailing you!

Try going for the practice nurse first.

Usually easier to get an appointment.

Then if you need to see the doc you get an e-ticket.

nutcracker · 19/12/2007 22:23

Ahh right ok, will try that then, if I can get through at all that is LOL.

Thanks all xxx

Nutcracker - I have been to docs today with blocked up ears.. it turns out that on the left hand side my the whole tube from my ear to my throat (down my jawline) is blocked solid with catarrh - have been given squirty nasal thing to clear this. My right ear is blocked solid with wax as a result of an ear infection from a cold and I have to put olive oil in my ear for 5 nights to shift it.

Definately go, you are not wasting their time. Had muffled hearing for about a month now and it wouldnt have gone on its own in the left ear . Like yours it isnt painful just uncomfortable and annoying.

nutcracker · 20/12/2007 13:49

Sounds awful binkebells, hope you feel better soon.

I had an awful night, my nose and ear on my left side were completely blocked all night, my throat was sore on that side, and my cheek went numb.

Couldn't get in at the docs today, all the slots had gone by the time I got back from school run. My mums gonna ring tomorow morning for me as soon as they open.

I've been.

Doc checked throat, ears, chest etc and said that I am fine and that it is just a nasty virus. However she has given me a prescription for AB's just incase it does get any worse.

Thankfully though I do feel alot better today.

Thanks for the advice, and I Expat, I hope you are ok.
