Right, regular mner BUT name change.

Basically around 2 weeks ago I noticed blood in my pants (sorry if tmi ) and blood when I wiped and I put it down to coming from my bottom.
This never happened again till today....again blood before I have even gone to the toilet and blood/mucus when I have gone. Both in my stools and when I wipe..? Not sure if its mixed in iykwim.

I am currently on ad's (citalopram) and iron tablets and im sure I remember my gp saying to me a few months back if I had noticed rectal bleeding which at the time I hadn't.Not sure if they can affect me to cause bleeding..? My stools are black= iron tablets.

Im now very worried as obviously this isn't right. Im booked to see my gp on fri BUT wondered if anyone can put me at ease...

There is no pain and I haven't lost weight, feel fine and otherwise am in good health.

Anyone reasure me..?

thanks again. Yes I have felt less tired since on iron tablets. I felt so zapped before and needed sleeps during the day etc.

Also forgot to add that gp though iron low as only had ds 10 months ago...

its much more likely to be a less sinister reason than anything else..most likely explanation is that the tablets have made you a bit constipated, which in turn can cause, either piles or a rectal tear( harmless though)..however, any bleeding from the rectum should be taken seriously so see your gp asap for an examination, if he is concerned he/she will refer you to a gastronenterology clinic for further tests.
its not unusual to see mucous either if you become a little but bunged up.
ulcerative colitis and chrons disease are usually assc with abdominal pain etc.

top tip: DONT do a google image search for piles or anal fissure!
i've had/have an anal fissure for about 14mths, so feel like an overinformed amateur on the subject! heres what i have found out. the main symptom with anal fissure is extreme pain on going for a poo, often lasting several hours afterward but decreasing. you often bleed too. the main cause of bleeding with or without pain is piles, this is really common through constipation, and, yep, iron tablets/pregnancy etc can all cause piles. it sounds like its probably that, i certainly wouldn't panic about crohns. my mother in law has crohns quite severely and says the pain is like labour pain.
however, whilst the vast majority of rectal bleeding is piles, its also worth getting it checked out, because of the small chance that it is something more sinister. and, god forbid, if it was something really bad like bowel cancer (i have panicked enough times about that over the last year!!) then if they catch it early it has a really really high success rate.
if it does turn out to be an anal fissure, or, indeed, if you just need sympathy and kind words for your bum troubles, join us on our anal fissure thread!
can't do a link cos i don't know how, but MaeBee (me) started it, and its title is: anal pain since childbirth - breastfeeding stopping healing?

thanks for the support everyone. Well I have been this morning....

Went through the embarassment and the gp seems that think I have a little area of red which the gp thinks is giving me the problem. She has prescribed me suppositries (sp..) to help it and says if it contnues to cone back. She said its usual for it to happen after babies and esp given there is 20 months between our two.

So Im grateful that thats all it was and just hope it clears up. Glad I also plucked up the courage to get it seen to asap. Didn't fancy having this hanging over me over christmas. Thanks you everyone again and have a great christmas and new year.

btw im not leaving mn,but you won't/don't know who I am...
