I had some blood tests Monday and called today and 1 result was back and no action and the other result was back but waiting for a doctors comment ? Does this mean there's something wrong 🙄 I'm utterly panicking and can barley eat or function 😪 she said ring back tomorrow afternoon. If there was something wrong and there back at the surgery would I have been contacted by now? Thanks you xxx

It depends on what they were testing but some results take longer to come back than others. If the Dr hadn’t commented then the results are shown as provisional so no, it doesn’t mean anything is really wrong, it just means they haven’t got round to looking at them because they are busy with other things.

If there was something really wrong, as in significantly bad, you would have been contacted ASAP by our surgery. I hope all will be okay for you, try not to worry Flowers

My guess (and I stress it's a guess) it that something is very slightly out of range and the doctor needs to decide if it matters at all, or if you should have the test repeated to see if it has spontaneously resolved.

If something was badly out of range you would be contacted immediately

Do you know which tests you're still waiting for?

HalloHello · 16/12/2021 18:26

Really depends on what the tests are for?

RunnerDown · 16/12/2021 18:36

It just means that when you phoned the GP hadn’t had a chance to look at the results. They get loads of results to go through every day, and doing that will come after doing the acute medical stuff. It doesn’t mean anything is wrong

I was tested for celiac and numerous cancer- I stress it was to rule both out and Dr didn't seem overly concerned but I pushed for the bloods as I'm anxious mess right now, and of course it's the cancer 1 that hasn't been commented on 😫,

Cancer markers often take an extra 24h to come back from the lab compared to routine bloods. If your GPs anything like most of us they probably don’t even start to look at their blood results until about 7pm these days -so not commented on simply means nobody’s had time to look at it yet.

Waiting for a doctor's comment means it's back but the doctor hasn't had time to look at it yet. It's most likely normal.

Thank u everyone, sometimes just having people to talk to makes the world of difference ❤

My DD was tested for celiac with a blood test last week.

We were told to phone up in the PM for results but the surgery called me at 8.10am to book a telephone appointment with the doctor to discuss the results.

I waited anxiously until 5pm for the doctor to call just for him to say that the test wasn't really conclusive and she needed a repeat test.

Currently waiting on those results.

Last month I had my yearly blood test for my normal chronic illness. My blood test returned and one of the results said "abnormal contact patient." A receptionist called me and gave me same day appointment. Turns out they needed to increase my medication.

What I used to dislike a lot was when they used to send a letter home asking me to make an appointment urgently. They even did that twice for urine test that was sent away to check for infection and surprise it showed infection. I didn't need to do anything else as the doctor had already given me antibiotics to help treat the infection that the gp couldn't see but the lab saw. I found it like a waste of time, but I couldn't ignore a medical letter that said urgent. I understand that, if gp had refused antibiotics, then I would have needed this letter to get some.

I hope you get a clear no cancer results. Don't wish your life away, instead fill it with lots of activities. Hopefully, you are sleeping now. Otherwise, I would highly recommend any exercise you can do.
