Glasses… second pair..Do I get VDU prescription or reading?

My prescription has changed and I have got my glasses but unsure about my pending second pair. I have been given a VDU prescription of +1.25 and reading of +1.75
These prescriptions would be subtracted from my basic prescription. I can more or less see lap top and notepad on my desk at arms length (24 inches ish) but can’t see to read so keep taking specs off. And off to look at phone too etc.
if I have a reading pair made up will I still see laptop at arms length? If I have a VDU could I read / see phone with it?
Unsure what to do! And it’s +0.5 difference which would make a big difference ? If only 0.25 maybe not a huge difference?
Does anyone have any words of wisdom please?

No idea but I haven’t seen vdu or even thought about that name in years. Thanks 💐 😊

It’s a prescribing term linked to legislation regarding employer paying for some/all of the portion needed for observing a computer screen. I suspect as we move away from Eu regs it will become redundant.

I’d get a pair of varifocals, a distance pair take them off to read wen required.

You can have what are called "enhanced reading" glasses - I have these - they are for VDU and reading, basically like the lower two-thirds of a pair of varifocals. You look through the bottom part of the lens to read, the rest of the lens for the computer screen.
