I was just wondering how old all your kids were when they got their first tooth? My DS is 9 mths old and seemed to have been teething for the last 5 mths but no he hasn't got a single tooth yet, will he be gummy for ever?

DS 1 was 12 months. They say the later they come, the longer they'll keep them.

Leander be grateful my ds got his first 2 teeth at 2 1/2 months then at 6 months he had eight teeth it made b/feeding a bit nippy if you know what I mean. I had tooth care to worry about from a very early age. Look at this way no teeth no decay

Hi Leander

My dd is now 13 months and only has her bottom two front teeth!! She's teething like mad and seems to spend all her time with her fingers in her mouth. I'm sure they'll come through eventually. The thing is that her brother had is first tooth at 6 months and by the time he was 13 months he had about 8!!!

robinw - you are a fount of information ... will go out immediately and get xylitol gum and toothpaste NOW!

Why is this bit of information not given to us as standard from HVs???

(Vote Robinw for PM!)

theonly problem is that a 9 month old puts everything in their mouth, including toys at playgroup which have been in someone elses mouth only a few seconds before

But, of course, every little helps & I'll be on the look out for some!

leander, mine got her first about 2 weeks before her first birthday. I had read somewhere to not even beginning worrying until they were 12 months old and was just starting to think about it when it popped through, by 2 she had them all so don't worry.

Eulalia · 19/10/2002 23:07

About 8.5 months and the second a month later. The rest all came fairly slowly with the last around his 2nd birthday.

My dd2 got her first tooth at 15 mns, and is now 17mns and just has her third coming ! It never stopped her eating anything though !

Bozza · 23/10/2002 16:01

My DS had 16 teeth by 13 months but now at 20 mo he still has 16. Wich the others would pop through now so I can rule out teething as a possibility if he's off colour ...

around two I think

SoupDragon · 23/10/2002 21:28

sb34, Medised works on teething too "I assumed it was her cold" - shame on you!! hehehe

DS2 (nearly 20 months) has 16 teeth and is seriously whingy so maybe he's getting his back teeth. Or it could genuinely be his cold I guess...
