I have a lot of symptoms of a Brain Tumour and I’m scared

Could really use a handhold. I have multiple symptoms that can be linked with brain tumours including suspected focal seizures, constant feelings of deja vu, weird tastes, facial tingling and one sided headaches lasting days (although these are mild).

I’m currently waiting for a date for an MRI which should be within 2 weeks but feel sick with anxiety waiting. I’m only in my early 30s Sad

Speaking as the proud owner of two brain tumours, please know that even if it is a brain tumour, you will cope. I know how terrified right now, but this is truly and honestly the worst bit. Nothing will be as bad as what you're going through right now. Once you have answers, you can celebrate an all clear or start getting on with treatment but with a much clearer and calmer picture of what's happening than the horrors you're imagining right now.

If you want to DM me for a chat please do.

Good luck. I wish I could say more. X

Jurgenaut · 08/12/2021 13:37

Thanks for the replies. The waiting is definitely the hard part. I’m not afraid of being ill or even dying but the thought of having to tell them I have to leave them is killing me.

Flowers sending you positive vibes and a hand hold x

Not to downplay your symptoms, but these can also be symptoms of anxiety too. Best of luck op.

Jurgenaut · 08/12/2021 13:45

@TellySavalashairbrush I do have anxiety and I’m hoping very much that it’s down to that but when this started I wouldn’t say I was particularly anxious so I’m not sure it is. I could be wrong, in fact I hope I am!

I've got a Meningioma (benign brain tumour) but haven't yet had any symptoms. It was discovered when I'd had a CT scan of my brain in September, after my stroke in July.

It might well be that you haven't got a tumour at all, so really there is no point in thinking about it or worrying about something that might never happen. Hope things will be fine for you.

WorryMcGee · 08/12/2021 14:29

My husband found out he had one last year. It had been growing for years with no symptoms at all until he had a full seizure at home, totally out of the blue one day. It was successfully removed and he has made a complete recovery. The wait to find out wtf was going on was worse than dealing with the actual tumour. What you are going through right now is so tough but once you have the information you need, whether it is one or it isn’t, it will all be okay ❤️ All the best x

RainbowBabyForChristmasPlease · 08/12/2021 14:39

Bar the seizures that is nigh on identical to how my migraines are.

Liverpoolarefab · 08/12/2021 17:54

Are these also not symptoms of epilepsy? Still a serious condition but not a brain tumour. I would also second anxiety . If you are goggling symptoms , please don't as it's making how these symptoms then 'appear'. x

Lonelydaisy · 08/12/2021 22:33

Do you get any tinnitus?

Jurgenaut · 18/12/2021 08:56

@Lonelydaisy occasionally I do yes

I’m still waiting for my MRI, I had another of these episodes/seizures this morning too. I’ve also had a left sided headache for about a month now and pain on the left side of my face. Trying not to worry but it is so difficult.

Liverpoolarefab · 18/12/2021 15:35

Can you afford to go private ? An appointment with a consultant will be £200-£300 plus MRI £600-£800?

Sunshineandrainbow · 18/12/2021 15:45

Do you take any meds for your anxiety?

Really wish you well I understand how scared you would be.

Jurgenaut · 18/12/2021 17:29

@Liverpoolarefab unfortunately can’t afford to go private.

@Sunshineandrainbow no I don’t currently, the thing is when all this started I think I was the least anxious I’d been in a long time and had gotten on top of things. This is why I’m struggling to put it down to anxiety. But who knows. I really do hope it turns out to be nothing sinister.

I feel like each of the symptoms individually wouldn’t make me think twice but altogether they’re quite worrying.

Rosamond35 · 18/12/2021 19:36

Good luck with the waiting, it is excruciating when you're so worried. But should be almost done now. And if they do find anything serious you will find out quickly.

Is there anyone you can ring to chase up a date in the meantime?

AnnaSW1 · 18/12/2021 19:45

Given these are symptoms of anxiety I'd really think that's much more likely given you already know you have anxiety

Luredbyapomegranate · 18/12/2021 20:07

I think the chances are this is anxiety and / or tension headaches.

I know it’s probably pointless saying try not to worry, but do try and keep reminding yourself the chances are it’s nothing.

irene9 · 18/12/2021 22:05

Does anyone witness your seizures? Can you ask them to video the next time as that would help with a diagnosis.
Also if the person could write down exactly what happened each time.

anxiety1000 · 05/12/2022 18:50

@Jurgenaut any updates?
