My son’s hearing just isn’t right but all tests come back normal

So my son is now an adult. Over the years we have been for every hearing test - via audiology and ENT - and they have all been normal. Except he really can’t hear very well. He says sometimes his ears pop and he can hear everything then they go back to how they were.

Where do we go from here ? They just aren’t right but nobody can find what’s wrong !

Any advice would be great thank you

Have you checked his eustation tubes? My DS has congested tubes which mean he can't hear the tv unless it's loud and he talks v loudly. Hearing tests all normal. Steroid drops prescribed by ENT consultant have cleared it up but likely to need them again when allergies / cold viruses flare up.

My kids have hearing issues, it's auditory processing disorder. I've got it too, on top of being hearing impaired.

Is the only thing I could think of.

I was going to mention central auditory processing disorder. Two of my loved ones have it.

Thanks all ! How do you get this diagnosed , who do I ask to be referred to? It’s never been picked up by audiology !

Is there any treatment for it? Thanks x
