Saxenda and weight loss after gallbladder removal

I’ve always struggled to lose weight due to having PCOS. The only thing that ever worked for me was Saxenda liraglutide injections. I want to try it again but a few months ago had my gallbladder removed. Does anyone know if it is safe to use Saxenda if you have no gallbladder? I can’t seem to find any info about it anywhere and my doctor doesn’t really know either.

Hi there! I see its been about a year but wanted to jump in. Did you ever find out? Also, could you share your input on these injections? I've never heard of them before. thanks so much

Hi everyone apologies for such a late reply! For those interested it is called Saxenda and is only available to buy via private prescription. Look it up on Google and you will find lots of information about it. It works by making you feel full so you don’t eat as much. It comes as an injector pen similar to insulin pens. You inject once a day and the dose is gradually increased each week until you reach the maximum of 3.0mg. It does however have side effects such as bloating, nausea, vomiting etc. I also found that if you stop taking it the weight piles back on very fast so you need to be committed to maintaining a healthy lifestyle after the weight loss. It is not cheap and costs around £50-75 per pen depending on where you buy it from.

I never got an answer about using it with no gallbladder but went ahead and used it again for 3 months. I was fine and had no problems but only managed to lose about 3kgs. Prior to the gallbladder removal I lost about 6kgs in the same amount of time.

I've had my gallbladder removed I'm on 1.8 dose atm I started at 16st 7lbs and I've gone down to 15st 7lbs I've noticed some days I feel ok other days I feel shocking n vomit I find having something sweet like energy drink or a boiled sweet makes me feel better I've heard your blood sugars can drop sometimes. I can't find anywhere about if ok to take after gallbladder removal but I've seen it can cause pancreatitus and kidney problems
