Dark mole appeared on sole of foot - anyone else had this!

Hello, just noticed it today. I don't know when it appeared but was definitely not there a year ago. Has anyone had this happen and it turn out to be normal? I've booked in to see doc tomorrow but I'm so sick with worry I could actually vomit. Could send a pic if it helps?

Looking for reassurance!! Thank you!

I'm so glad you're seeing a doctor. This happened to my DIL and it was found to be a malignant melanoma. They found another, too, which she hadn't given a second thought. Everything was found to be OK afterwards but she has to have regular checks. The quicker you get it seen to the sooner you'll find reassurance.

DeadSouth · 25/11/2021 13:08

I just recently had a mole on my back investigated it was really quick between seeing the dr, having it professionally photographed (2 days) and had a letter from a dermatologist within 3 weeks stating it is a benign tumour of dead skin cells/wart rather than a mole.
I hope you have a good and fast outcome!

bookworm1982 · 25/11/2021 15:53

Thank you for your replies. HallowTalk what kind of mole was it? Was it big or small? Flat? Was it actually cancer. I'm beside myself with worry. ☹️

My friend had one removed from the bottom of her foot just after she’d had a baby. I think the doctor was a bit worried about it but it turned out to be completely fine.

Good luck, you’re doing the right thing getting it checked out.

silentpool · 25/11/2021 19:44

It's hard to tell by looking as to what is a problem mole. So it's great that you are checking. Odds are, it will be fine. I check everything that I don't like the look of.

bookworm1982 · 25/11/2021 20:05

Everything about it tells me that it's not going to be good news. It's 4mm, jagged edges, brown and black in colour, asymmetric 😞

Hello. Thank you for your reply. Did you see the mole on your friend's foot? Did it just appear? I'm losing my mind with worry Sad

Thanks for reply. Was it a round mole? Mine has jagged edges and that's what worries me the most.

Thanks for your advice. Was the mole on her foot? Xx

Could it be a verruca?

TheDaydreamBelievers · 27/11/2021 23:01

I had a brown one with wavy edges and varying colour (a dark bit in it and a redder bit) on a foot which turned out to be nothing

Was it like the pic I just posted? Was it an old mole or a new one that appeared? Xxxx

Please try not to think about it until the appointment on Monday. Nothing people say here makes any difference- their moles are not your moles!

Catipepo · 27/11/2021 23:28

Hope your appointment goes well on Monday

Not sure how helpful, but I have something similar in same place and is just a trauma mark left from when I once stood on a plug!

I know Sad Just I have to wait up to two weeks to see dermatologist and although that doesn't sound long, the wait is going to be horrendous. I just want to know that this isn't guaranteed to be something sinister - even though it ticks all the boxes - and it helps to reassure me when people tell me they've been through it and it was all OK. Thought that's what Mumsnet was for xxx

Thank you for your nice message. I'm not going to the Mole Clinic now - instead my GP, who I spoke to on Friday, has referred me straight to a dermatologist who I'll hopefully see within two weeks xxx

Have you had funny-looking moles before then? X

Just another question - did your mark look like a funny-shaped mole then? Xxx

@bookworm1982 yes I have had some really odd looking ones, as I've lived in hot climates. But I just check them and generally they remove them or take photos of them and keep an eye on them. I do go to a specialist clinic for an annual skin check, which might be an idea, if you worry!

jeffersonsam · 29/11/2021 06:45

My small suggestion is, if that mole is not affected your body health and your personal beauty, then leave it. Otherwise you can go head to remove it from your foot.

Citygirl2019 · 29/11/2021 07:19

I've just been diagnosed with stage two melanoma. I had a mole on my shoulder that had gone darker. I've had the mole removed, but waiting to see a surgeon for further surgery

My advice would be to get any concerns checked.

islamann · 29/11/2021 07:51

Im a skin cancer nurse. From the description and photo I would say it would be enough to have it excised. "If in doubt, cut it out."
It will be a worrying few weeks but the important thing with MM is to diagnose and treat early.
Good luck.
