Hi all,

I am a mom of 33 months old baby girl. I just joined today and pretty new here.

My baby has been sick often (runny nose, cough, fever and recently enterovirus) and she doesn't have much weight gain.We also caught bugs from her and I was down for a week too. I lost weight since she started walking and due to recent illness. My girl weights less than 12kg. I am wondering if I should see nutritionist or if there is any ideas to maintain a healthy weight for my daughter and myself. It's really stressful and sleepless when baby is sick and when we do not have family support.

Really appreciate if someone could share your experiences, advice and any recommendations on how to cope with bit and keep healthy weight.

Thank you.

My little girl was in the 90th percentile height wise but 10th weight wise when she was about 2. She wouldn't eat anything. At this stage she was referred to a paediatrician who just said that as long as she ate something and her development was normal, I shouldn't worry.

She was indeed developing normally and despite being so skinny, was doing fine. She remained skinny until she was about 10, then started secondary and put on some weight so she was slim rather than skinny. She is now in her 20s, normal weight and eats large quantities that make my eyes water! She is doing a Master's in a scientific subject and excelling.

Your dad's appetite is most likely reduced due to her numerous illnesses. If she is developing ok otherwise, professionals will probably say she's ok.

Thank you so much Vivain. So far, she is developing well. But I can't give her multivitamin or omega3 or vitamin D. When she was before 2 years old, I can give multivitamin in her milk. However, she doesn't drink her milk if I add multivitamin (OTC Wellbaby), kinda know the difference in taste recently.
