I am due to have a laparoscopy on the 20th to have a large cyst drained and adhesions removed.
I think i am due a period around that time (not sure of dates due to endometriosis). Can the procedure still go ahead if i have my period?
Any advice or stories will be appreciated as im a bit worried.
Thank you.

Hi, i had laparoscopy done to investigate infertility. Dont see why they wouldnt go ahead because your period is due. As its not an internal procedure. I was also due my period, and it started almost immediately afterwards.
Dont wear jeans after it, as the waistband can rub on the scar, you will feel gassy and bloated for a few days. Also, try to rest. You'll feel a bit washed out and tired. GOOD LUCK!!

Good luck

The most discomfort I had was from being bloated from the gas. I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry anout the GA - the anaesthetists will take you through that step by step and I found them very reassuring.

Good luck, hope it goes well - one tip I would give (as my stitches got infected, which the nurse told me was quite common (!)) is to get a bottle or spray can of saline solution - the contact lens stuff - and use it to wash out the tummy button area - it helps with healing and wards off infection.

Ditto what everyone else has said about mild shoulder discomfort and not wearing tight waistbands, otherwise it was very straightforward.

I am a fellow endometriosis sufferer - I agree with the other comments. The bloated feeling was awful and I too had shoulder pain. The scar although small was painful for quite some time. I am pretty sure I was having my period at the time and they didnt seem at all bothered.

Good luck - and hope you feelin better soon
