Gall Bladder Surgery . What was your recovery time?

Morning, I have a date for surgery . It’s in less than 3 weeks. My industry gets quite busy around Christmas. I have a lot of clients to be cancelled and unlikely I will get them all rebooked before Christmas. My job is not beauty / hair related , something people like to get “ticked off” before Christmas, it won’t ruin the festivities if they don’t get it done .
Op is a Thursday. I sit down all day, I have an assistant on hand all of the time. I’m fit and well generally. Could I potentially be back at work on the Monday after 3 good days of rest.
I have to self isolate 3 days before the operation which is why I’m trying to minimise the time off afterwards. I see 15 to 17 clients a day so that’s a lot of people to cancel , I’m trying to minimise the disruption . Also, no work, no pay as I’m self employed but I do have savings, just rather not use them if possible.
So Tell me your post op recovery experience good or bad.

Glue sounds a bit kinder . I’ve been given what looks like a Lego undoer to give to the GP to remove the staples, I thought for a moment the nurse was going to say I was to do it in ten days . Grin
Glad you've had it done and you're not feeling too bad. I can't describe the relief when my staples came out. I felt a million times better straight away. I hope you're feeling better quickly so you can get back to work 🤞

I made it in to work . Didn’t drive. Needed to nap when I got home mind you hence why I’m wide awake now. It’s been interesting reading how different the same op can be for us all. Smile

So glad everything worked out for you OP. My belly button incision has only just fully closed 2.5 weeks afterwards. I think I was definitely one of the unfortunate ones in terms of a quick recovery. Hope this thread is helpful for others having the same op in the future.

Hi all . Hi @anausbsk. Hope you are well on your way to be mended.
Just an up date from me in case anyone want to take inspiration from the fact I sent myself back to work only 3 days after the op. I would say don’t do it. I have managed my work load but the tiredness come the end of the day is overwhelming . I’m still sore despite everything healing well . It was just to much . Also , going back so soon means everyone thinks you are well enough to crack on with all the non work stuff which is just not the case. I’m literally to knackered to even think about our Xmas plans .

Hiya, sorry to hear you're feeling so tired. I'm only just getting back to 'normal' and it's a month since my op tomorrow. Saying that I still have a lower stomach area which is sore to the touch and I'm still finding my jeans very uncomfortable to wear 🤦‍♀️

I hope you manage to have a rest over Christmas.

I found leggings rather than jeans with a structured waist best. Hadn't realised how ill I'd been until after. I ended up with 2 hernias on thé midline - I'd been dancing, I'd felt so much better.
