question about tampons

is it possible the tampon can get lost/stuck/string breaks off because I have never used them & need to for a swimming comp tommorrow. When I say I have never used one well, I did attempt to insert one many moons ago but was so tense I couldn't do it -that has put me off ever using them & just avoid swimming when on my period.

Very, very rare. Without getting tmi, which ones did you try? The applicator ones or the other ones?

Try a mooncup instead. They're brilliant, and its far easier to master teh use of OK - bit late for tomorrow maybe, but well worth considering.

oh Fio, you traitor to the cause

Lucy - I've never had problems with tampons in the past.

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 14/12/2007 18:42

I use the non-applicator type and always give the string a good tug before I start.

ChubbyStuckForAFestiveNameBurd · 14/12/2007 18:44

Impossible to lose it. Never ever had a string break. I promise once you master it you'll never go back to towels.

quickdrawmcgraw · 14/12/2007 18:44

you can't use mooncups for swimming can you chonky? They fill up. Or is that just me?

I've never lost a tampon from a broken string. It's woven all the way up into it.

Never had problems with tampons, didn't even occur to me that there might be a problem (apart from Toxic shock syndrome) and used them for over 20 years (oh ffs, how old am I?!!!!)

Anyway, I now use a Mooncup and would never go back to tampons!

The only thing that's ever got 'lost' has been a condom and I had to go to nurse to get it retrieved cos I couldn't reach! There's NOWHERE for anything to go, you or partner or a nurse will be able to get it.

Relax, take it easy and don't rush insertion. Try again after a wee break if you have difficulty.

Hope it goes well with your swimming comp. I would happily swim with a tampon in.
