Hi all.
I posted a few days ago about ds having one testicle appearing swollen on and off. (he's 14 months old) He has croup at the moment and is quite poorly but has pulled at his nappy once or twice. I am taking him to G.P tomorrow but DP has scared the life out of me now saying it could be strangulated and he might lose it . I think he wants A + E.
Any thoughts?

Hi
My little one had this at 20 months old. I kept looking at it and thinking is it swollen or not. The one day I got him out the bath and I was like 'oh my life'. It was definitely swollen.

So, I went straight off to the GP who said he had a hernia. He sent him to the hospital (childrens ward not A&E) where a doc saw him and put him into traction (legs up in air) to stop it strangulating until he could get him in for surgery. Apparently if it had strangulated he would have been violently sick etc (so you would know if your son's was).

He had the surgery a day or so later and was out of theatre within an hour. He came home a few hours later and was fine

He is 8 now and has the tiniest scar in his groin.

Good luck and let us know!
