Hockey mouth guard with "gold chain" in place to bring down pre-molar

My 11 year old son is a keen field hockey player and has just had surgery to fit a gold chain to bring down a pre-molar tooth.
I can't seem to find any info on what to do in terms of a mouth guard? I don't know if it's possible to use one. I wonder if anyone else has been in this situation and what they did

You can get mouth guards made for you at the dentist (well at least you can for rugby, presume it's the same). They'd be able to sort you out.

Hes just had surgery so probably not a good idea to be playing hockey straight
away anyway

I think its very case dependent. You shluld have an appointment with the orthodontist soon so ask them what they advise.
